EXCERPT No 2

For most of us, home has been the place protecting us during these times of pandemic. A secure place to just be… with our loved ones or with ourself, in introspection on discovering more of who we are and more of what life is all about. For many others, their place of refuge and safety, is their sanctuary, their church.

A PLACE OF GATHERING,

a place of worship, a place to share hurts and tears, joys and smiles, handshakes and hugs. Another home for most. The only home for some.

GRATITUDE

cannot be foreseen as services are given online, offering the possibility to exchange smiles, sing songs, listen to the Word and stay connected to the community. But this option is not available to all.

While the Sanctuary is missed, empty of people and yet full of Peace, Faith, Hope and Love, it is nurtured. Everything has its place.

The organ and the books are awaiting the hands that will work them to reunite their people in their safe place, knowing that the better days are around the corner.

AND WHEN THE DOORS OPEN AGAIN,

the Light will shine through for Montreal’s oldest black Congregation. The senses of smell and touch will rebirth and hearts will burst out of joy as hands are being shaken, hugs given and people are filling the seats. All reunited within these walls. The walls that hold 113 years of history and so much more.
